When I first held you, you squirmed and wiggled. The fur on your face covered your button-like nose. I feel lucky to own a beautiful terrier dog, even if we cannot afford you (because you were a gift). I know that in the past few days, I was so busy at work and life that I had very little time to talk with you. You always barked at strangers who approached our door and all throughout our lives we felt safe because you loved watching over us. Now you can watch over us from heaven.
I know that you are tired, your eyes have shown many years of strife and pain as we all faced the annual floods in our place. But you survived each one of them. When Ondoy came, we both swam in almost neck deep water to get out of the subdivision. You were always with us in all the phases of our lives, and I just feel sad but okay for you to rest now. I haven’t stopped crying for you until now. When I held you for the last time, a cold wind blew over my face. i knew it was you telling me not to worry anymore. I will leave this place with memories of you, of how we two slept together on the couch for a month because you cried everytime I left you alone. I am sorry for the times that maybe I fell short of taking care of you, when life became tough. Yet you were always there for me and for my family.
Daddy is sad because he did not see you when you left us. You are our second child, our baby but because your age was multiplied to five years, we called you “Ate Twinkle” because you always guarded the house and your sister Nadine. Twinkle, I will miss you badly, I wish that when its my time to go, you will fetch me from wherever I am. Mommy loves you so much, sleep well and carry our love with you my dear friend.See you again in time.
